Silver Screen Live Show
In October the Casa de Cultura in Calpe is hosting a live show to pay homage to the music from the movies of Hollywood. The show is produced by Philip Ashley and will be staged by the amateur show group “Sounds Familiar” who performed their debut show in February in the same theatre. They will be joined by students from “Theatre Express” in Javea in performing song and dance from Robin Hood, James Bond, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Mary Poppins, First Wives Club, Little Shops of Horrors and many other well-known big screen productions.
The previous production was set in a “bar” with Sounds Familiar on stage throughout the entire show. This show, called “The Silver Screen”, is set at an award ceremony and all the music is taken from films, but as with their last show the music will sound familiar to the audience.
The Silver Screen will be performed on Wednesday 7 October 2009, with the show itself starting at 8pm. The doors will open at 7.30pm. Tickets cost 12 euros for adults, and 8 euros for under 14’s, with 25% of the ticket money being donated to the Lions Club of Calpe and Benissa.

Currently the group is made of experienced performers and also some members who have never taken part in a show before. More shows are planned for the future, so if you are interested in joining a Show Group and having some fun, then we would love to have you along. Everyone is welcome whether you are experienced or would like to try this fun hobby for the first time. The group meets on a Monday evening in the Moraira area.
